DRAGOON KYAN ASURYN
My beloved Warrior of Light from Final Fantasy XIV, in his Dragoon job armor. In FFXIV, I experience the world of Etheirys through Kyan’s eyes, and through my eyes and my cosplay, he can experience ours. In this sense there is balance between us; fantasy and reality overlap to create a new identity in which neither one of us is more real than the other. In this way, we adventure together always.

Fleeting Moment
“The Warrior of Light returns to the Crystal Tower to deliver final words to his old friend Elidibus. We are reminded that even when we lose those dearest to us, they often leave a piece of themselves behind. Sometimes that piece is not so figurative.”
My skit, telling the story of how Kyan Asuryn receives the lance of Elidibus, left behind for him as a final gift in the Crystal Tower. I started with the idea to pull the lance from the portal and ran with it, creating my interactive backdrop! Honestly this was some of the most fun I’ve had with cosplay in a while, and really opened me to more possibilities of storytelling with my favorite characters.

The Crown is an incredibly prestigious craftsmanship competition and it is already an achievement to have been selected to participate alongside the other incredible artists. I am deeply honored to have won 2nd place overall!
